Following is a list of various food groups and foods for children to avoid if instructed to have a milk protein-free diet.
MilkAvoid all forms of milk including whole,lowfat, nonfat, or buttermilk, evaporated milk, malted milk, half and half, cream and yogurt
CheeseAvoid all kinds including cheese dips and spreads, and cottage cheese
BeveragesAvoid chocolate milk, hot cocoa, Ovaltine, milk shakes
Breads/RollsAvoid most breads as they contain milk (read labels); bread mixes, pancakes, waffles, soda crackers, zwiebackCerealsMany dry cereals contain milk (read labels)
Desserts/SweetsAvoid cakes, cookies, custards, puddings, ice cream, sherbets, doughnuts, cake mixes, pie crust made with butter or margarine, pies with cream fillings (coconut, chocolate, cream, custard, lemon, or pumpkin), caramels, chocolate candies
FatsAvoid butter and margarine, salad dressings
MeatsAvoid hot dogs, luncheon meats, meat loaf and commercial meat patties
SaucesAny made with butter, margarine, milk or creamSoupsBisques, chowders, cream soups
VegetablesAu gratin or scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, any vegetables with butter or margarine, any creamed vegetables
